About Me

Image

When I first heard about the opportunity to lead a career in software development I was working in a team with four other managers to ensure the upmost quality of our products and to deliver the finest service to our guests. I started searching for new opportunities that would challenge me and better my future.

When I discovered Nashville Software School I always saw myself pursuing a career in the technical field but I never quite knew where to start. I saw NSS as the initial step towards life long learning and a way to build a better future for both myself and my future family.

As I have been learning to write code in order to build useful applications I have found that finding the solution to a problem is one of the most rewarding feelings you could experience. The immense amount of patience and dedication it requires to reach the appropriate outcome is a true skill that takes time to master. Beginning down the life long road of learning code has truly been a gratifying endeavor thusfar.

When i'm not learning to code I push myself to stay fit in the gym, practice my putting in disc-golf, and continue to grow as a drummer. I have the opportunity to pursue my passions and interests due to my supportive family. They play a substantial role in my life and I work hard so that I may support those who have supported me all these years, especially during the transition to a new career.

My Projects

Birdie

Once the world changed and we all had to adjust to the new COVID-19 regulations my friends and I decided to take up a sport that kept us apart while still bringing us together. Thus, Birdie was born. Birdie is a full-stack Django application built to be a disc golfers companion out on the course.

— Birdie also features a user to user direct messaging stystem to meet up with friends or brag about your scores.

— A user can save disc specs and flight ratings for each disc. Then create a bag and assign discs to it.

— Save game details such as what park was played, what bag was used and the final score.

— SQLite was used for relational databse management.

— Django Bootstrap4 was used for design and styling.

— Birdie utilizes Djangos MVT architecture.

Reassurance

I created a React based app designed to accompany a user while reading through scripture in the Bible and record a special verse that made a lasting impression on them. A user can record data including the book, chapter and verse specifics, as well as tag the saved verse with an associated emotion. Once a verse has been recorded, the user can filter all entries based on the specified emotion which updates state and presents only the associated entries.

— Full CRUD functionality to comment on individual verses to supply context or notate thoughts.

— Designed the data architecture using DB Diagrams and created a mock up for the site using Moqups.

— Navbar, Sign-In/Register and card design was created using Reactstrap. Materialize was used for other styling elements such as the buttons and text boxes.
